National Harbor
This body of work includes various forms of digital photography. A few time-lapses, panoramas, a GIF, and photo composition. I decided to do my final project at National Harbor since it's around the holiday season. Before COVID, my family and I would come here a few hours ahead of time on one of the nights they light the tree. We’d all eat dinner all together; then usually walked around, looked in a few stores, and got ice cream. Later, we would go up to my grandfather’s office and stand on the balcony to watch the tree lighting with a few of his co-workers. It was one of the best places to be since we didn’t have to deal with a crowd and getting a good view. The first time-lapse is of the tree and surrounding area; including my grandfather’s office on the right. The second, on the left, is of “The Awakening” and the third on the right is a different view of National Harbor from partially down a pier. For these, I used Camera Raw to edit the initial images and then used Photoshop to put together the 12-second video. The fourth is a close-up GIF of the flags flying in the wind; I used Camera Raw to edit the initial images and Photoshop to sequence them. The fifth and sixth are panoramas of the Capital Wheel and Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge. With these, I only used Camera Raw to edit and stitch the images together. Lastly, the photo composition of “The Awakening” was all done in Photoshop. I edited and stacked three of the same images on top of each other; then used a mask to cut and paste the extra limbs.
